We've been right where you are, figuring out our future selves. When each of us discovered how few resources exist to help people plan well, we combined our Human Resources, IT, Business & Marketing expertise to create this unique online community.

In the process, we found our new passion and purpose.

CINDY STROHM

I always wanted to help others in their life; that is probably why I ended up in Human Resources. I threw myself into my profession, sometimes at the expense of my family and friends, in order to push forward in life.  Eventually, the journey stopped for me. One day, I found myself out of work and at the end of a very long  corporate career.  Frankly, I was surprised that my new-found freedom was more difficult than I expected. I wanted to still be relevant and have purpose but also felt I owed it to myself to have a little fun.  So what would that look like for me?

As I started to ask those questions for myself, I soon realized others facing their "second half of life" were facing the same challenge.  So I decided to do what I love to do best - help others grow and develop,  But this time, I wanted to call the shots. So I decided to start a business with others that share my passion of helping others find meaning and purpose, during their second act.

My own journey is not over, in fact, it's just beginning. I want to bring a community of people together to share stories and lessons learned so that in years to come we all can say "we lived our dreams."

Over the years, I make sure to  remind myself of the opportunities I've had working on some extraordinary healthcare innovations I was so proud to help bring to market. It's always done my heart good knowing how those new medical devices and novel drugs actually saved lives.

Ironically in 2016, I became very ill and underwent a multi-organ transplant, getting a second chance myself. And I can tell you that there's no more profound feat than defying death to compel you to decide how to spend the rest of your life. While I've had to grapple with giving up some elements of my past identity, I've learned that life isn't about who you once were. It's about who you are now and what your potential is. After all, I didn't come this far just to go this far.  So with a new heart and renewed spirit, I teamed up with Cindy and Lori to create this supremely cool initiative that can help so many people, at any age, shape a fresh version of themselves.

LORI ORLIKOWSKI

On paper, I’m an accomplished IT expert. But that doesn’t really capture the forces of nature that drive me. First, I love to solve problems; the more complex, the better and across a wide swath of critically important industries such as medicine, aerospace and urban transportation. Equally, I’m an extreme adventurist. I want to travel everywhere. I’ve been fortunate enough to trek around the globe to many fascinating places way off the beaten path. And I can’t wait for more trips to parts unknown.

Still, when I turned 50, I asked myself what I wanted to do when I grow up. So when our team began looking at the need to help people find purpose after retirement, I instantly saw it as a novel opportunity to solve an issue and begin a new adventure, championing others to find the inquisitive explorer in themselves. Metaphorically, I want everyone, no matter your age, to share my philosophy that the best seat on the plane is the one you’re sitting in, winging your way to a new experience.
